The M43 holding

From the autumn of 1942 the QMC chose to replace all the uniforms of the armies, often different)Infantry(, Parachute, Tankmen,...), by a single even uniform. This dress has made 20 equipment, but we will here the jacket and the pants, which is well known. Indeed held M-43 was also to replace the capote wool, the waterproof, the beanie...
These elements will be ready by the summer 1943 to be tested by the 3th Infantry Division on the Italian front in Anzio. She will be adopted later and commissioned in October 1944 for the same front, and also for the 17th Airborn.

It was in January 1945 that the QMC will distribute these effects to the entire army. However, despite the mass dissemination of this holding, some soldiers will be a "mix" between their old place and it. It is not uncommon to see a parachutist wear his pants M-42 with his jacket M-43, etc etc.
Although this holding was mostly tested on the front in Anzio, it will be also, but in a scope, tested infime D-day, as evidenced by these two photos below (note to the right as they are new!).

 

(1) The jacket.

This jacket is equipped with 4 pockets and is carved into a green satin cotton fabrics (WD n ° 7). It is closed with 7 buttons on the front, and is tightened to the level of the hips with elastic system. The sleeves are clamping legs and a bellows for sealing. In February 1944 a new jacket M-43 appears, but the change is not visible. Indeed, the main difference is the addition of a record sewn under the pass.

 

(2) The pants.

This canvas trousers also satin is adopted in August 1943. Its lining, and his pockets are carried out in a robust tissues in broken white hue. It is planned to carry a synthetic lining, but it will be worn over pants of wool standard with shoulder straps, this is why it will be 2.5 cm wider than the size indicated on the label. There are two legs of UDEs. The first at the size level to adjust the width when it is worn only, and the second level pegs, for better Don it in the brodequions at shin guards.
