As you can see in this photo, the patches of divisions and ranks were not the only ones that adorned the soldier uniform. Other patches, with other meanings existed and were used.

In this photo, the Staff Sergeant Walter d. Ehlers, who received 19 December 1944 the Medal of honour of the Congress for these exploits to the enemies of the 9 and 10 June 1944.
